The "Do the Right Thing Coalition",
is a cooperative effort of 400 advocacy, association,
private provider and other entities.
The Coalition was formed in
response to Illinois' crisis in care for its citizens with
developmental and other disabilities. Their health, welfare and
safety are at risk due to the State's lack of resources and reliance
upon outdated institutional programs. Thousands of individuals are
in need of but unable to obtain residential and day support
programs. Time spent in special education is negated by the lack of
continuity into any adult-based services.
